State Academics & Fine Arts Competition
Annual events for students across different age groups to nurture their individual talents and to compete in events for Bible, academics, music, speech, and art.
Promoting Student Development and Discipline
The State Academic & Fine Arts Competition is part of the teaching and training aspects of Christian education. It is the largest series of events sponsored by WACS.
Students can compete in a variety of events. Competitions are held for all age groups (elementary, junior high, and senior high). This is a unique opportunity to develop the talents the Lord has given each student.
The competition provides the students and schools the ability to be sharpened and strengthened by other students and schools. The skills and disciplines that are gained from students being involved prepares them for a life of ministry.

January 2026
- January 19-30 – JH/SH Online Testing Order Period. Must be ordered by January 30.
- January 30 – JH/SH State Competition Registration Deadline
- January 30 – Elementary/JH/SH Bible Quizzing Registration Deadline
February 2026
- February 2-27 - JH/SH Academic Online Testing for State Competition
- February TBD - SH Debate Competition
- February 16 – Short Story, Poetry and Essay Entries Due in the WACS office
March 2026
- March 10 – Elementary/JH/SH Bible Quizzing - Calvary Baptist Christian School, Watertown
- March 13 – Junior and Senior High State Fine Arts Competition - Calvary Baptist Christian School, Watertown
- March 18 – AACS Nationals Competition Registration to the WACS Office Deadline
- March 9-20 – Elementary Online Testing Order Period - Must be ordered by March 20.
- March 20 – Elementary State Competition Registration Deadline
- March 23 - April 14 – Elementary Academic Online Testing for State Competition
April 2026
- April 14-16 – AACS Nationals Competition
- April 17 – Elementary State Competition at Calvary Baptist Christian School, Watertown
- April 24 – Elementary State Competition at Bay City Christian School, Green Bay
The State Academic & Fine Arts Competition Opening Rally typically begins at 9:15 AM. The Closing Rally should start at 5:15 PM if all categories end on time.
The Closing Rally and Final Awards Program will be live streamed by Calvary Baptist Church here.
Competitor List by Event and School Performance Times will be send to the schools to review two weeks before the competition. The schedule will be posted here the week of competition.
The new competition manual, judges forms and registration forms will be posted in the summer of 2025.

The AACS Competition Manual (2025 edition) will govern National Competition 2026–2030. We recommend your school purchase the national manual and carefully review it.
State competitions often operate under different rules. Competitors must follow current Nationals rules and use the current AACS judging forms at Nationals. The AACS Competition Manual (2025 edition) includes the Science Fair Manual.
Spelling study lists can be accessed here, and all words listed are from the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary.
AACS High School National Competition
- Words are organized into four lists (Contest A & B and Champion A & B).
- Initial rounds will be from the lists. Additional words for advanced rounds may be chosen from the official contest dictionary.
- Instruct high school students to study all four lists.
Junior High Competitions
- Junior high competitions are governed by the various state organizations.
- AACS suggests instructing junior high students to study the two A lists (Contest A and Champion A).
- Initial rounds will be from the lists. Additional words for advanced rounds may be chosen from the official contest dictionary.
Elementary Competitions
- WACS elementary spelling lists are found in the WACS State Competition Manual.
Bible Quizzing Registration
Bible Quizzing registration and fees for 2026 are due by January 30, 2026. Please click below to complete and submit your registration to the WACS office by that date.

The fees for Bible Quizzing this year are $50 PER TEAM. The fees MUST be paid before your school will be entered into the competitions. A $25 late fee will be charged for fees not received by January 30.
