AACS National Creative Writing Contest 

2022-2023 Competition

Here is this year’s information on the Annual AACS Creative Writing Contest for elementary (grades 4 – 6) and junior high (grades 7 – 8) students. We would like to encourage all of our WACS schools to participate in this year’s essay and poetry contests. Please note the following:

  • Click here for the letter to the associations from AACS. Please note only ONE ENTRY PER CATEGORY PER SCHOOL is to be sent to the WACS office.
  • Click here for the rules including topics for this year.
  • Click here for a copy of the judging sheets. PLEASE BE SURE YOUR STUDENT SIGNS THE FORM before you send in their work. These forms have been updated for the 2022–23 contest.
  • A student may enter only one of the categories – either short story or poetry.
  • These judges forms MUST be used and the rules followed for an entry to be considered.
  • Each school should have an in-house competition and send ONLY the winning piece in each category to the WACS office.
  • The ORIGINAL work must be sent to the WACS office by Monday, December 12, 2022. The original must be free of any markings.

2022-2023 Results

Thank you for your school’s participation in the 40th annual AACS Creative Writing Contest. We had wonderful entries from each of the schools that participated this year!
